In the wake of a Department of Justice report on racism within the Ferguson police department and the city as a whole, chief Tom Jackson is expected to resign, according to BuzzFeed's Jon Passantino

Jackson oversaw the department during its pattern of racism marked by both troubling statistics and specific anecdotes. Numerous other city officials have resigned or been fired since the report's release, the most notable being city manager John Shaw.

We'll update as the story develops.

Update 3/15/15: Jackson has officially resigned, issuing the following statement:

"It is with profound sadness that I am announcing I am stepping down from my position as chief of police for the city of Ferguson Missouri. My resignation will be effective March 19, 2015 to provide for an orderly transition of command. It has been an honor and a privelege to serve this great city and to serve with all of you. I will continue to assist the city in anyway I can in my capacity as private citizen.

Warmest regards"

It's also reported that his replacement will be appointed from within the department. The same department rife with racism.
