Awkwafina receives the 'Shining Star Award' at the Maui Film Festival.

Fresh off the news that Melissa McCarthy is tentatively attached to the role of Ursula for Disney's live-action/CGI reboot of The Little Mermaid, it looks like the rest of the cast is, uh, tentatively filling out.

According to a confirmation from Deadline, both Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay are in discussions to join the Rob Marshall-directed film. Tremblay, who you may or may not remember from 2015's Room, is reportedly being eyed for the role of Flounder, the tropical fish that doubles as the best friend of Ariel (aka the main character). Awkwafina, on the other hand, is being considered for the role of the seagull Scuttle. That character's also an animal friend to Ariel.

News of Awkwafina and Tremblay's spot as leaders for the aforementioned roles are yet to spark anything like this Lizzo tweet where she put together her pitch well prior to the recent McCarthy news, but it's still early yet:

In addition to these pending announcements, Awkwafina is also slated to co-star in the upcoming Jumani film, Jumanji: The Next Level, while Tremblay will appear in the The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep.
