Netflix is starting off the new year by introducing the titles that will premiere on the streaming service.
The company's film Twitter account tweeted out descriptions of the films that they're aiming to drop this year.
Spike Lee will continue his partnership with Netflix with the release of Da 5 Bloods starring Chadwick Boseman, while a documentary focused on Taylor Swift called Miss America is also on the slate. Perhaps the most exciting news is that the Obamas will continue their post-political careers by producing a documentary for Netflix.
Both Michelle and Barack Obama have signed on as executive producers of the film, Crip Camp. This film follows the journey of disabled teenagers attending a summer camp in the 1970s. It is told through the perspective of former camper Jim LeBrecht who directed the film alongside Nicole Newnham.
This is the first project since the couple's Higher Ground production company announced its multi-year deal partnership with Netflix in 2018. The Obamas and Higher Ground have agreed to produce films and series for Netflix. There is also a possibility that they will venture into creating scripted content.
