Hollywood super-producer, Harvey Weinstein, has soiled his name within the industry in various ways. According to actress Cara Delevingne, not only did Weinstein commit various acts of sexual misconduct against women he also made homophobic remarks about her sexuality.
During an interview with Net-a-Porter, Delevingne spoke candidly about the experiences she's had being a sexually fluid woman in Hollywood. This led her to share some demeaning comments Weinstein said to her.
"One of the first things Harvey Weinstein ever said to me was, 'You will never make it in this industry as a gay woman — get a beard,'" Delevingne said. She also stated that when she was auditioning for roles that involved Weinstein, the producer would rattle off famous women and ask if she's slept with them. "I just thought: This is insane," she said when describing the incidents.
This would not be the last time Weinstein did inappropriate things to Delevingne. Before Delevingne entered Hollywood, she was an accomplished supermodel. Weinstein was known for using the world of fashion to streamline his sexual deviancy. When his misconduct first became headlines, Delevingne went on record with claims that Weinstein tried to force her to kiss another actress in front of him.
"When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. [Weinstein] asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction," Delevingne said in an Instagram post that describes the incident. "I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing….I thought it would make the situation better….more professional….like an audition….I was so nervous."
Delevingne also discussed her relationship with girlfriend Ashley Benson. Though she has kept details of her relationship with Benson under wraps, it seems to be going pretty well.
“I’d never truly let anyone in before, for fear of them leaving,” Delevingne says. “I never really trusted people, or felt worthy of it, and I always pushed them away. She’s the first person that has said: ‘You can’t push me away. I’m going to be nice to you, I love you.’ I’m just like, wait, so all I have to do is just let you be nice to me? Why have I never done that before? OK.”
