Yikes.
That’s the only way to describe the disgustingly huge Goliath spider, which scientist Piotr Naskrecki recently stumbled upon in the rainforests of Guyana. He first thought he was going to see a possum or rat, but instead what he found was decidedly more terrifying.
The Goliath’s legs can reach up to a foot in length, and its body can grow to be as long as a child’s forearm. Basically, this thing is a horror movie waiting to happen.
Here’s what it can do if you piss it off:

“The spider has three lines of defense. By rubbing its legs against its abdomen, it produces a cloud of tiny, barbed hairs that get in the eyes and mucous membranes and cause extreme pain and itching for days. It has two-inch-long fangs strong enough to pierce a mouse's skull. And it can make a hissing sound by rubbing its hairs together, which sounds like pulling Velcro apart.”
