The 10 Geekiest Homemade Halloween Costumes

Halloween is a time for people to throw their inhibitions to the wind and let their inner self out. We've seen people go in on the costumes, but there are a few hardcore devotees out there that create elaborate recreations of their favorite fictional characters, with homemade special effects that rival anything Hollywood can produce. And, yeah, we know this weekend proved to be the unofficial horror holiday as everyone dressed up, hit the streets, and got wasted. But in preparation for all the real big day, we've put together this list of some of the most insane high-concept, geek-tastic costumes ever made.

One of the most legitimately badass costumes we've ever seen. It does raise one mostly awesome, slightly scary question, though: If a guy can make something like this in his garage, isn't it a no-brainer that the government's got something even crazier stashed away?

This guy first gained fame by making an iPhone costume in 2009. When the iPhone 4 came out he took it upon himself to update the 'fit with a working touchscreen and an iPhone 4 mirrored via an HDMI cord. Unfortunately, he didn't work on his dance skills.
