Greek's most scandalous sorority girl, Dilshad Vadsaria, is graduating from television and taking on her biggest film role yet: as the lead actress in the highly-anticipated action-comedy 30 Minutes Or Less. In the upcoming film, Vadsaria plays our current cover star Aziz Ansari's twin sister and, much to Aziz's character's disapproval, Jesse Eisenberg's hot love interest.
Other than what we've seen of Vadsaria on the ABC Family show, we know virtually nothing about the sexy 25 year-old actress who's poised to become one of the biggest breakout stars of this year. So, we took it upon ourselves to educate the public on the girl they'd be Googling once they exit the movie theater this weekend. You're welcome.
Her breakthrough role was as Rebecca Logan on "Greek."
After studying acting in New York, Vadsaria was finally encouraged to move to L.A., where she landed the role of the spoiled senator's daughter, Rebecca Logan, shortly after. As the new ZBZ sister, her presence had resulted in less community service and sisterhood and more audience-stealing catfights and keggers.
From taking the somewhat dictatorial role as sorority president to stealing everyone's boyfriends, Vadsaria admits that her character's attitude makes her uncomfortable. To Audrey magazine, she mentioned she had to warn the other actors, "I have to be mean to you now".
Before she moved to Chicago, she was raised in Karachi, Pakistan.
Vadsaria was raised in a house with her grandfather, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city until she was six, when she moved to Chicago. Although growing up in Karachi was fun for her, Vadsaria wrote on her personal website that she loved Chicago, especially for her school experience there. What sold her to life in the Windy City? Apparently, "the crayons, construction paper and glue" that she didn't have at her previous school.
Her first professional role was as a guest star on "Vanished."
Maybe it was her luck or simply her undeniable talent, but most newcomers' first professional gigs aren't as promising as Vadsaria's turned out to be. For her national television debut, Vadsaria played Agent Nanji on the short-lived hour long mystery crime drama, Vanished.
She was a pre-med student at the University of Delaware.
As a pre-med student, Vadsaria's life at the University of Delaware was admittedly quite different from her Greek character's life at the made-for-TV college, Cyprus-Rhodes. She admits to studying all the time instead of doing stripteases and playing in fountains drunk. In addition, rather than living off of her TV dad's money, she worked two jobs, including as an McDonald's employee. Finally, as for the Greek life at U of D? She rushed but she didn't end up pursuing the sorority life. The show was obviously her second chance at the true college experience.
She guest starred on the pilot for "NCIS: Los Angeles"
In 2009, Vadsaria appeared in the NCIS: Los Angeles pilot entitled "The Legend (Part 2)" as Shakira (not that Shakira). The show didn't exactly get the reception it was expected to, unlike other crime scene spin-offs, but it did provide Vadsaria with an outlet to showcase her acting chops beyond Greek's resident mean girl.
She kissed Spencer Grammer on an episode of "Greek."
Greek is about college life. If high education has taught students anything it is this: girls love to experiment. For about three episodes of the hit show, Vadsaria's character Rebecca was questioning her sexuality. While she may have kissed her sister's bridesmaid in those episodes, it's her giggly, meaningless interaction with Spencer Grammer that most viewers remember fondly.
She'll never date anyone who asks her out on Twitter.
Vadsaria loves her fans and she won't hesitate to give them a shout out in 140 characters or less. Don't be afraid to @ her, she'll probably shoot an emoticon back. But please take note: that doesn't mean you tweeting her some dinner plans and a picture of your biceps will get you a date with her. In her feature for Maxim (pictured above), Vadsaria mentioned that the weirdest way she's been asked out is through Twitter. In other words, you'll forever make yourself look like a creep to her.
She hopes to obtain a motorcycle license.
Dilshad's lists of interests include: skiing, horseback riding, traveling, and potentially getting a sweet ass bike. While she'll probably avoid any motorcycle gangs, she does hope to get her license someday. The actress even tried to convince the writers of Greek to throw the preppy and proper Rebecca on a motorcycle for some action scenes. In those designer earmuffs and tweed coat, we can definitely see her on a Harley.
She's a happy drunk.
Whether they're making out with a lampshade or they're telling you how you should follow your dreams because "you are going to make it, I swear" (with only a little bit of a lisp), happy drunks always make everyone feel great. In the video, Vadsaria mentioned using her "character work" as an excuse to party, so her method acting must make her pretty down. Here's to buying her lots of drinks so she can say she loves you.
