Nine states in America officially recognize Confederate Memorial Day, a time to honor veterans of the "War of Northern Aggression" (lolz). Specifically, the veterans of the Confederacy. You're probably saying, "Word?" in a very loud, exaggerated tone while trying to keep your eyes from rolling so far back into your head that you can see your brain, which is all a tremeble at the thought of this. If you feel you can go no further without having your smarts explode, please do not read on.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas all officially recognize this day, though they can't agree on when it should happen. Still, multiple states pin the day to April 26, the day when Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston surrendered to Union General William Sherman.

We've gathered some photos of people in the aforementioned states celebrating Confederate Memorial Day. To individuals who have partaken in this holiday before, these pictures must look pedestrian, prosaic. But we saw them and were all, "OH ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" Maybe you'll react the same way.

All this memorializing is sure to work up an appetite. Quick break for lunch, and then the Birth of a Nation screening.

Please direct your your attention to the left-hand side of the photo, specifically the man in the beautifully cut blazer from the Don Johnson collection.
