By now, you all know the most basic facts about Zoe Kravitz: She's Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet's 22-year-old daughter, a New York socialite, a budding actress, and she's starring as the winged Angel in X-Men: First Class (in theaters today).
Yet, other than those generalities, most folks actually know diddly-squat about her. For example, what did Lenny sing her to make her fall asleep back in the day? What's her favorite color? Which coffee shop in Brooklyn does she frequent the most and at what time? Those may sound like creepy questions, but ardent fans can probably answer them for some of their other favorite celebrity women. It's not restraining-order worthy—it's just being a hardcore fan. Right?
Once X-Men rakes in the box office millions this weekend, Zoe Kravitz will have those hardcore fans. But one can't enter into fandom without being equipped with a few more specifics about their respective object of obsession. So, in order to jumpstart the petite beauty's bandwagon, we're here to inform you about the (first) Five Things You Didn't Know About Zoe Kravitz.
She's The Lead Vocalist For The Band Elevator Fight
1. She's the lead vocalist for the band Elevator Fight.
Unsurprisingly, the daughter of a rock star inherited her father's talent. The video above features her N.Y./Philly-based band, formed in 2009, performing at Silk City in Philadelphia. Zoe notes that her biggest influences include Jack White, Pattie Smith, and Karen O, while the band as a whole feeds off of (according to their Facebook page) "brutality, Michael Jackson, Jameson Irish Whiskey." Naturally, as Zoe once said in an interview, Elevator Fight sings about everything including "the Illuminati, beer, comic books and naked chicks." In other words, they write from our very own stream of consciousness.
She's Addicted To Tattoos
2. She's addicted to tattoos.
At age 18, Zoe first got inked with a heart under an umlaut, which she says is a reminder for her to love herself. Since then, she has admitted to becoming "kind of addicted" to tats. Kravitz has so many that she can't remember if she has 18 or 19 small ones, though she's unable to get big ones due to her acting career. They include (but are not limited to): "Moma", "R&A" (for her grandmothers), her brother's name ("Wolf"), her sister's name ("Lola"), a feather, and an anchor.
She Starred In Jay-Z's "I Know" Music Video
3. She starred in Jay-Z's "I Know" music video in 2008.
In the video for Hov's American Gangster single, the many faces of Zoe Kravitz are featured, including "rich rock star royalty," "club kid," and "hipster," although we can't explain the levitation. Prior to the clip's production, Jay and Zoe had already met a few times. Of befriending the music mogul, she recently told ASOS: "He’s such a cool guy that sometimes I wish he wasn’t Jay-Z so we could
hang out all day long and walk around and talk shit, because I love him."
Her Two Publicized Relationships Have Been With "X-Men" Actors
4. Her two publicized relationships have been with X-Men actors.
We're starting to wonder if Kravitz has a thing for mutants. Before she started dating her current man, and fellow X-Men: First Class star, Michael Fassbender, Zoe dated Ben Foster, who played Warren Worthington III, a.k.a. Angel in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand. Then again, that might've just been a weird coincidence and she might just have a thing for older men; Fassbender is 12 years her senior, while Foster has eight on her.
She's The Face Of Both Vera Wang Princess And Eleven Paris Clothing
5. She's the face of both Vera Wang Princess and Eleven Paris clothing.
Since 2009, Kravitz has been the face of the Vera Wang Princess perfume line. Of the line, Vera once said, "Princess to me isn’t only the princess with a crown; it’s a girl who is
courageous. She is an individual, she has a sense of whimsy, a sense of
fun. She is a princess in her own mind, and in her own way." For Kravitz, who has noted Helena Bonham Carter as her idol, Wang's image of a whimsical princess seems to mirror the budding actress' personality.
Keeping her spokesmodel game moving, she's also the new face of Eleven Paris. As the model for the French clothing line's Spring 2011 collection, the spawn of Lenny Kravitz, who claims to base her own style off of Jimi Hendrix, is well-suited for the edgier brand.
