**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Breaking Bad fans were more than pleasantly surprised when DEA agents Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) and his partner Steven Gomez (Steven Michael Quezada) appeared on the latest episode of the iconic show’s AMC prequel, Better Call Saul.

“I told (producers) it’s going to be fun to play Hank before all the depression, before he took a turn for the worse," Norris told USA Today about his return. “You know, the loudmouth, strong, tough, not-a-care-in-the-world kind of guy that I only got to play in the first two seasons.”

In Saul, which takes place before the events of Breaking Bad, Hank is free of Breaking Bad's traumatic violence that gave his character PTSD, something that bled into Norris’ world too, after his parents both died when the show was on air. “You can't play that level of depression without it affecting you a bit,” Norris told the outlet. “So it was great to come back and play him fun again.”

Quezada is also pumped about the DEA duo's reunion. “It's a pretty awesome blessing,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “You just never know how writing goes. When we got the call, and Dean called me about it, we were so excited. It pretty much fell on Dean. If Dean said no, then I'm out of the loop, man, so I'm glad he said yes. I'm glad we got to go play and bring back characters we love so much.”

Both Hank and Gomez died at the end of Breaking Bad, so as expected, fans were ecstatic about their return.

Seeing Hank and Gomez tonight is kind of like when Gus first turned up, and the Salamancas. It's a delightful treat that enriches the world of #BreakingBad & #BetterCallSaul. This must be how you superhero franchise fans feel with end of credit cameos and stuff. pic.twitter.com/08TxLVdz3p
