Hopefully we didn't get all excited for nothing, because we all kind of lost our minds when news broke that Twin Peaks was coming back with nine new episodes on Showtime.

Unfortunately, series creator David Lynch is starting to have doubts about the show coming back in 2016, according to a report from Welcome to Twin Peaks.

First there was the vague statement at a Q&A in Australia where he was asked about the series' return and responded with, "I don't know. There are complications."

Then, a clue as to what was going on from an interview on the Australian arts and culture show The Mix. Lynch was asked what it was like to return to the world of Twin Peaks, and responded, "I haven’t returned yet and we’re still working on the contract, but I love the world of Twin Peaks and I love those characters. And I think it will be very special to go back into that world."
