Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has broken the all-time record for most subscriptions on the platform after he surpassed the 300,000 subs mark on Tuesday.
“It’s official we are the most subscribed streamer of all time, also hitting the milestone 300k subs,” Cenat tweeted in all-caps on Tuesday. “This journey has been amazing… Happy Black History month.”
Cenat, who first started streaming on Twitch all the way back in February 2021, hit the milestone at the conclusion of his month-long “subathon” event. He streamed non-stop from the start of Black History month on February 1. He has previously invited a number of high-profile guests to his stream, including Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, and Ice Spice among others.
“The new king of Twitch,” the Amazon-owned streaming platform tweeted upon the news of Cenat breaking the record. “Kai Cenat is now the most subscribed channel in Twitch history, shattering the previous record of 283k subscribers.”
Polo G also responded to the news. "Goated brodii🐐🐐🐐congrats," he wrote in a reply on Twitter.
Ludwig Ahgren, who held the previous Twitch record at 283,000 subscriptions before he signed an exclusive deal with YouTube Gaming in 2021, told Cenat the achievement was “very deserved.” He cautioned that Twitch should “pay the man before [they] lose another record breaker,” though.
As part of his month-long stream, Cenat recently invited G Herbo to join him and put the rapper through a gauntlet that included everything from a magician to a birth simulator, the latter of which Herbo did not seem pleased with.
