Ahead of its premiere next month, HBO Max shared the latest trailer for James Gunn’s Peacemaker series starring John Cena, who reprises his role from The Suicide Squad.

Picking up after the events of the August 2021 film, which itself ended with a tease for the series, Peacemaker sees Cena’s titular character accepting more high-stakes missions. Created and written by Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director Gunn, the show is set to premiere on HBO Max on Jan. 13, 2022. Gunn directed the majority of the episodes, although Brad Anderson, Rosemary Rodriguez, and Eastbound & Down co-creator Jody Hill each helmed one episode of the first season, too.

Also starring in the show are Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Robert Patrick, who portrays the titular character’s father. In comments made back in September, per the Hollywood Reporter, Gunn noted Cena’s Peacemaker character “has a lot to learn.” From the look of the trailer, he appears to be doubting his belief in achieving peace no matter what.

Gunn shared an official Peacemaker poster Friday as well, featuring the tagline “they give peace a bad name.” he noted on his social media accounts that “creating this show brought me a tremendous amount of joy.”

Watch the trailer for Peacemaker up top, and catch it on HBO Max at the start of next year.
