Universal Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Michael Bay’s action-thriller Ambulance, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Set in Los Angeles and taking place over the course of one day, the trailer for the film shows just how far the two leads are willing to go to make sure their ambitious heist goes off without a hitch. When their bank robbery attempt comes under threat after a police officer walks in, the duo steals an ambulance to use as their getaway vehicle. As to be expected, it only gets worse for them from there as they contend with authorities chasing them and a paramedic whose ambulance they stole.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Gyllenhaal said that shooting the film was a tough experience due to the cramped nature of the ambulance. “There are a lot of scenes where I’m just being thrown around an ambulance and I’ve got to say, that gave me even more respect for first responders because there are so many sharp edges in an ambulance nobody thinks about when it’s driving as fast it is," he said, noting that it gave him "respect for first responders."
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has a number of other notable projects on the horizon, too, including The Matrix Resurrections in December, and the Aquaman sequel in December, 2022.
Watch the trailer up top, and look for the movie when it debuts in theaters on Feb. 18, 2022.
