With the final season of Game of Thrones just around the corner, production on HBO's prequel series has kicked into gear. Rumored to be titled The Long Night, the show will take place thousands of years before the original show. It's already been announced that Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse have been cast, but now the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that eight more stars have signed on as regulars.
Among those announced are Naomi Ackie, Toby Regbo, Ivanno Jeremiah, George Henley, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Denise Gough, and Alex Sharp. Ackie is set to feature in the next Star Wars film, while other talents involved have worked on Black Mirror, Humans, Chronicles of Narnia, and Fantastic Beasts.
Details regarding the characters each of these actors will play is currently unknown, although HBO did tease that Watts will play a socialite with a dark secret. The blog post by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin that seemingly confirmed the title also added some scant details. "Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend—it's not the story we think we know."
The pilot for the potential series has been ordered, with Jane Goldman and co-creator Martin behind the script. S.J. Clarkson, who has previously worked on Jessica Jones and Succession, will direct.
