Jordan Peele understands that his striking and instantly recognizable Tethered characters are perfect for Halloween costumes. Unsettling and simply dressed in red jumpsuits, the characters are catnip for folks in need of a costume. Even so, the Us director said that he has no interest in seeing his spooky creations brought to life.
“Now, in Halloween season, I’ve started receiving a lot of people in Tethered costumes, which, it doesn’t make me comfortable,” Peele told Variety. “You know, I like the fact that the movie is happening, it’s a phenomenon, it’s resonating, it’s iconic — but, I don’t know, there’s something about … it’s like, they’re impersonating the stalkers and sending me stuff.”
Peele said that he didn't like people playing around in the unhinged headspace of his murderous, subterranean monsters.
"I just feel like, just don’t go into that mindset,” he said.
