With every major tech player working on their own hi-tech timepiece and the market forecasted to reach 15 million by next year—it’s pretty evident that smartwatches have become the new “it” devices of the moment. The success of the Kickstarter-funded Pebble brought mass awareness to the category and the competition is starting to heat up, as several smartphone goliaths are entering the fray in hopes of becoming the dominant leader in digital wearables. In one corner we have the Android powerhouse, Samsung, which just launched the Galaxy Gear in conjuction with its two flagship devices: the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1. At the other end, the mobile processing giant known as Qualcomm steps in the octagon with the innovatively engineered Toq. As interest in both devices continues to rise heading into the holidays, we decided to match the two together and see which one walks out the champ. Is it the Galaxy Gear or Qualcomm Toq?
