Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will link with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to develop a brand new Star Wars movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter

"We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox," Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer of Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement to THR. "With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together."

Although there isn't much in the way of details about the new Star Wars film, THR cited a source as saying that Feige has made it known to "a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play when and if he makes the movie." Feige has previously produced a run of wildly successful films such as Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity WarCaptain America: Civil War, Black Panther, and the other entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The next Star Wars film to be released, The Rise of Skywalker, will hit theaters on December 20, 2019. The film, which is directed by J.J. Abrams, will be the last instatement that will deal with the story of Luke Skywalker. The Rise of Skywalker will star Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Billy Dee Williams, and the late Carrie Fisher.
