Ruby Rose has revealed that while filming her Batwoman series for the CW, she underwent emergency surgery from a stunt injury that almost left her paralyzed.

She shared the news on Sept. 27, posting a graphic video of her surgery on Instagram, alongside the caption, “To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck... A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed,” she wrote. “I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.”

She also thanked her doctor for “allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt.”

Rose also had serious back surgery in January 2018 to correct a spinal issue, Us magazine reports. She was chosen as the lead for the forthcoming Batwoman series in August 2018. The show premieres on the CW on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. ET.
