Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios released the first trailer for The Goldfinch on Wednesday. The hugely anticipated film will hit theaters on Sept 13.

The story is set around Theodore Decker, whose life is turned upside down after a museum explosion claims the life of his mother. In more specific terms, Theo who's played by Ansel Elgort, "deals with self-medication and the underworld art scene as he travels from New York to Las Vegas to Amsterdam," according to Entertainment Weekly.  Along with its awards season release date, the film is primed for a huge Oscar run, thanks in large part to its prestige cast. Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman also stars in the film, playing Mrs. Barbour, a friend of Theo's mother who takes him in after her death. Jeffrey Wright and Luke Wilson also star.

Tony Award and BAFTA Award-winning director John Crowley (Brooklyn) is helming the film, which is based on the Donna Tartt novel of the same name. Published in 2013, the book spent 33 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, ultimately winning the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction in 2014. With such a huge built-in fanbase, The Goldfinch will likely dominate the box office when it's released.

Elgort meanwhile, is on the cusp of becoming a bona fide movie star. He'll also be starring in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story remake, which is set to premiere in 2020.
