DC Entertainment has released the trailer for the upcoming horror series Swamp Thing, is produced by Aquaman director James Wan.

The upcoming DC Universe exclusive is set around Abby Arcane, played by Gotham's Crystal Reed. Arcane, a CDC employee, is forced to come back to her Louisiana hometown after an outbreak of a medical mystery. Andy Bean stars as Alec Holland, a scientist who transforms into the titular creature.

PerDeadline, the synopsis of the show reads, "Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe."

The show, which joins a list of originals on the service like Young Justice, will be set in a different universe from other shows such as Titans. Following the widespread success of Aquaman, Wan (who also created horror franchises like Saw and The Conjuring), will be at the helm of the weekly show.

The series has spawned several films and shows such as the 1982 movie written and directed by Wes Craven, an animated series in '91, and a live-action show that aired on the USA Network. As previous iterations were focused more on action, this new horror-themed reimagining will be a far cry from its predecessors.
