“Make sure you got that spark, you know what I’m sayin,’” Cardi B told the audience at the Swisher Sweets 2019 Spark Awards on April 12 in Los Angeles. The Invasion of Privacy rapper received the Spark Award for being a trendsetter and breaking barriers in the music industry.
Rocking rainbow hair, Cardi was one of a number of A-list guests in attendance, with the Iggy Azalea, Eric Bellinger, and Mariah Lynn also at The London in West Hollywood. The night celebrated Cardi’s influence on hip hop, her entrepreneurship, and her journey from the Bronx to winning Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys.
The Spark Awards is connected to Swisher Sweets’ Artist Project, an endeavor that aims to provide an inclusive platform for emerging artists in the hip-hop community. The initiative has held events in cities like New Orleans, Atlanta, and Houston to foster the careers of musicians, photographers, and visual artists.
