Barack Obama, Snoop Dogg, and Diddy Talk Clarence Avant in Netflix's 'Black Godfather' Trailer

Reginald Hudlin's doc on the hugely influential Clarence Avant is out next month.

This June, the life of hugely influential music industry exec Clarence Avant will be explored in the new Netflix documentary The Black Godfather.

Avant helped guide Grammy winners, heavyweight champs, presidents, and Hall of Famers to success, forming a star-stacked group of grateful admirers featured prominently in the doc's new trailer.

The two-minute glimpse at Oscar-winning director Reginald Hudlin's film includes comments on Avant's legacy from Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Withers, Jamie Foxx, Diddy, and more. The story touches on Avant's experiences during the Jim Crow era, as well as his crucial work in helping rescue the Stax and Motown labels. Additionally, his current work as an adviser to creatives like Babyface and L.A. Reid is discussed.

"Clarence is the bridge from a time when there was no opportunity, to a time when doors began to open," Obama says of Avant.

The Black Godfather hits Netflix and select theaters June 7. Per Netflix, viewers will be see how Avant was moved "by a sense of equality, loyalty, and justice" that ultimately made him into the powerhouse figure he's known as today.
