'Incredibles 2' Projected to Be the First Animated Movie to Make Over $500 Million Domestically

'Incredibles 2' has only been in the theaters for a few weeks, but it's already on the way to breaking the box office record for animated movies released in North America.

Incredibles 2 is pulling off some incredibly historic numbers at the box office.

The Wrap reports that the superhero family film is slated to be the first animated movie to make more than $500 million in the North American box office. The film is projected to bring in $31 million during its fourth weekend. If it does, it will top Finding Dory's two-year record of $486 million and be on its way past the $500 million mark.

Incredibles 2's will also be just the 12th film to gross $500 million domestically. It will also surpass another Disney film, Rogue One, in the top ten all-time domestic grossing list.

The Incredibles train doesn't stop there though. In addition to a record-breaking $182 million opening weekend, Dark Horse Comics also released two comic books based on the superhero family. There's a graphic novel, Incredibles 2: Heroes at Home, and a three-issue miniseries, Incredibles 2: Crisis in Mid-Life! & Other Stories, out now.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp is projected to open at No. 1 in the box office this weekend, keeping Disney's dominance alive.
