M. Night Shyamalan’s highly anticipated Glass project looks incredible.
The director debuted the film’s first trailer during a San Diego Comic-Con panel Friday, about 18 years after the world was introduced to the Unbreakable David Dunn (Bruce Willis). As many of you know, Unbreakable was the first installment of Shyamalan’s superhero-thriller franchise, followed by Split starring James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb. The director teased a third installment in February of last year, eventually confirming it would focus on Samuel L. Jackson’s Unbreakable character, Mr. Glass.
The trailer finds Dunn, Crumb, and Mr. Glass residing in a mental institution, where they are introduced to Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson). “The three of you have convinced yourselves you have extraordinary gifts like something out of a comic book,” Dr. Staple tells the patients who’ve been deemed mentally ill.
“This is not a cartoon,” Mr. Glass says in a voiceover. “This is the real world. And yet, some of us still don’t die with bullets. Some of us can still bend steel. I’ve been waiting for the world to see that we exist.”
