Hank the Security Guard Actor Hugh Dane From 'The Office' Died From Pancreatic Cancer

The actor's death was announced earlier this month.

Earlier this month, stars fromThe Officeand fans alike mourned the death of the beloved actor, Hugh Dane, who played the character of Hank on the hit NBC series. Now, TMZ reports that Dane died of pancreatic cancer, according to his death certificate.

The news of his death hit in early June when a nonprofit organization, The Inner City Cultural Center, announced the news on Facebook. But TMZ says the death certificate reports Dane's date of death three weeks earlier on May 16 at his Los Angeles home.

After his death was made public, several of the show's actors went to Twitter to pay tribute to his legacy.

"RIP Hugh Dane, aka Hank the security guard. He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him," read a tweet from Rainn Wilson, which also encouraged his followers to donate to the Inner City Cultural Center in the late actor's name. "What a terrific guy," wrote Steve Carell.

In the midst of promoting Ocean's 8, Mindy Kaling also shared some kind words about the late actor as well. "Hugh Dane was one the funniest actors ever. I loved writing and acting with him," read her tweet.
