'Avengers: Infinity War’ Cast Found Out About Ending on Same Day They Shot Scene

The ending of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was so shrouded in mystery that the cast admits they found out about it on their way to the shoot in a van.

To ensure that nothing about the ending of Avengers: Infinity War leaked, the film’s directors Anthony and Joe Russo took some extreme measures that even extended to their own cast. While appearing on a panel at Ace Comic Con in Seattle this past weekend, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that the cast didn’t know about the ending until the day they shot the scene.

"I found out from the Russos exactly what was going to happen and it wasn’t until we shot it on that day we learned what the ending was," Olsen said. "They took us into a van – all of us – we were in a van with air conditioning because it was very hot and they told us how the movie was going to end and no one knew. And they were like ‘Now we’re shooting it, Go!’ and we were like ‘How are we supposed to interpret that?’"

Olsen confessed that the studio was so overly protective towards the information contained within the script that most of the cast could only look at it in a setting that prevents any spoilers from getting out. "If you wanted to read the full script, for the majority of us, you had to go in a room with no windows, leave your phone at the door, and sit and read it fully," Olsen explained. "We couldn’t take our time at home or anything like that – they wouldn’t give us a hard copy. I just got my pages and even my pages had a fake ending and multiple fake things in it." Considering how shook that ending left us all, the studio did the right thing by keeping the element of surprise alive.
