If you are anywhere near gamers, you have probably heard of Fortnite. Think of it as a cross between the megahit Minecraft and the zombie-filled survival game Left 4 Dead; your character is literally dropped into the middle of an open world, where your task is to survive. The version of Earth in the game was ravaged by a storm that caused 98% of the world’s population to disappear, and also has zombies that are dead set on taking out the remaining population. Players are equipped with tools to not only build weapons, but build defenses against the storm, all while taking out the hordes of zombies.

The original game was release in in July of 2017, around the same time that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was released. Epic Games is said to have seen Battlegrounds, which is said to have made the “battle royale” style of multiplayer game popular, and flipped it into their own version, dubbed Fortnite Battle Royale, which was released for free in September of 2017. Fortnite Battle Royale was an instant hit, with 10 million players reportedly jumping on board in the first two weeks of its release.
