It’s one of the most pivotal moments in gaming history. Back in the early 90s Sony originally teamed up with Nintendo to produce a CD-ROM add-on for the Super Nintendo. It never happened, and Sony went off on their own and released the PlayStation themselves in 1994. It changed the world, gaming went mainstream and the rest is history.

No examples of anything Nintendo and Sony made together has surfaced—until now. A supposed prototype for the Nintendo Playstation has emerged, even though no one’s sure if it’s real or not. Allegedly produced circa-1991, the pictures were posted on Reddit (which is currently down right now) by user Dnldbld. Explaining where he got it from, he said “My dad worked for a company, apparently one of the guys he used to work with, I think his name was Olaf, used to work at Nintendo and when my dads company went bankrupt, my dad found it in a box of "junk" he was supposed to throw out.”

If it is indeed real, it’s an incredible find.
