George Costanza Jason Alexander recently let it slip how Seinfeld killed off Susan—played by Heidi Swedberg— who Costanza almost married on the series because she was “fucking impossible” to work with (Alexander said she was nice, but "[he] couldn’t figure out how to play off of her.”) He’s since apologized for telling the story, but Ali Wentworth, who played Jerry’s girlfriend “Sheila” a.k.a Schmoopy in the legendary Soup Nazi episode, has responded.

Wentworth told The Hollywood Reporter, “I read a little bit about that, and I was a little bit like, 'Wow, now? Now?'"

She recalled shooting a diner scene where George and Susan end up joining Jerry and Sheila for lunch. She said she was,

“having a lot more fun than [Alexander and Swedberg] were, for sure. I do remember Jason and Jerry and I sparring and having fun," before adding, "And she didn't really — I don't remember her saying much or doing much."

So it seems Swedberg really wasn’t offering much to work with if she wasn’t even memorable, right?

Wentworth then went on to speculate about why her character didn’t stick around, "I'm sure there was a reason I only did one episode. I don't know why I didn't end up marrying him."

Uh, because Schmoopy angered the Soup Nazi. That was a dealbreaker.
