A Pennsylvania teenager has been accused of murdering a classmate, and the evidence comes from his phone. Maxwell Marion Morton, 16,  took a selfie with Ryan Mangan, 16, moments after Mangan was shot in the face. Morton then sent that photo to friends in a Snapchat, and one of the recipients showed his mom. That mom did the right thing and called the cops.

The photo was around long enough for the police to download. And it's pretty damning:

“[Police] received a copy of the photo which depicted the victim sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to the face,” a police affidavit states. “It also depicts a black male taking the ‘selfie,’ with his face facing the camera and the victim behind the actor. The photo had the name ‘Maxwell’ across the top.” [via The Washington Post]

Morton allegedly confessed to the murder, after police discovered a 9mm handgun in Morton's home.  The teenager now faces charges of first-degree murder, homicide, and illegal possession of a firearm. Prior to confessing, the same friend received a text message from Morton's phone stating, “Told you I cleaned up the shells” and “Ryan was not the last one."

Jeanette, Pennsylvania is located about 30-miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The victim and the suspect were both juniors in high school.
