Appalling video footage has emerged of two veteran NYPD officers beating a Brooklyn teenager who was attempting to surrender to them.

DNAinfo reports that the footage, which was secured by "On the Inside," shows 16-year-old Kahreem Tribble running from the two officers in late August. Tribble allegedly fled after dropping a bag of marijuana, and the footage shows him eventually stopping and facing the officers. That's when Officer Tyrane Isaac strikes him in the face. As Tribble raises his hands in surrender, and Officer David Afanador hits him with his gun.

Another officer, Christopher Mastoros, is seen walking into the frame, doing nothing to stop Isaac or Afanador.

Tribble was arrested and charged with marijuana possession and disorderly conduct, but the altercation left him with injuries including cracked teeth. Isaacs was assigned to modified duty after being stripped of his gun and badge, while Afandor was suspended without pay.

DNAinfo adds that NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton is both "angered and embarrassed" by the video. The officers, both assigned to the 79th Precinct, are currently the subjects of a criminal investigation spearheaded by the department's Internal Affairs division and the office of Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson
