Lifetime Is Making a Brittany Murphy Biopic, Because of Course They Are

An unauthorized Brittany Murphy biopic is coming to Lifetime this September, because that's all they do now.

It sure seems like there’s a surefire way to get a Lifetime movie made about your life: die at a young age.

With Whitney Houston and Aaliyah biopics already in production, Lifetime is going after another too-young star who died when they debut The Brittany Murphy Story on September 6. The film will star Amanda Fuller (Last Man Standing) as Murphy, who died suddenly in 2009 from pneumonia and a bad combination of over-the-counter medicine intended to treat her illness.

The movie will focus on Brittany's relationship with her mother before, during, and after the younger Murphy shot to fame for her role in Clueless. As for whether this is an authorized production, well, just read this description from Lifetime:

“Her desperation for approval and insecurity about her looks makes her personal life a disaster…Unlike other stage moms, Sharon was always her daughter's support system, but that enduring love wasn't enough to save her sensitive Brittany from the vicissitudes of Hollywood life.”

So, in other words, no. The Murphy family is almost definitely not into this. And honestly, neither is anyone else.
