Starbound is a neat-looking new game that combines elements of Terraria (aka the 2D Minecraft—in fact several of the devs making Starbound also made Terraria), Borderlands and, judging by this video, the coolest ant colony ever.
Seriously, we'd almost rather just watch videos like this of people building stuff in Starbound than play it ourselves.
In the game players explore space after the destruction of their characters' homeworld. You'll colonize planets where you can terraform and build structures like the one in the video, and everything—including the weapons, just like in Borderlands—will be randomized with dozens of possible variables.
It sounds great, though unfortunately there's no concrete release date. Hopefully it'll come out in 2013.
