Nintendo has talked a big game about distributing more content digitally on the 3DS and Wii U. It looks like they'll be backing up those claims, as the company revealed that, starting later this year, a large set of 3DS games will be available for digital download via the 3DS E-Shop.

"We've got a massive list of AAA content on the way from all of the biggest names in gaming, that are all proven franchises, all exclusive to our platform, and all coming to stores both in physical and digital formats in the second half of 2012," according to Reggie Fils-Aime.

Among the so-called "massive list" are three upcoming Mario titles: New Super Mario Bros. 2, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star. The list also includes popular third-party titles for the 3DS, including; Kingdom Hearts 3D, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of FateScribblenauts Unlimited, and Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion.
