The year 2006 defined a generation. America went from '90s grunge to boy bands to an era of conspicuous celebrity consumption, the Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan phase. That entire year, tabloids and nightly news segments honed in on reports about the ongoing feud between the two socialites and the hell that broke loose in L.A. whenever they would make up.
Over the past five years, Paris is not nearly as ubiquitous, and Lohan has become better known for her several unsuccessful trips to rehab, and stints in jail. Now, with Lindsay almost entirely free from legal drama, Paris Hilton has re-entered her life. Whether or not the 30 year-old Hilton will be a positive influence on Lindsay is yet to be determined, but as time has shown, peace between the two was always as fleeting as their tensions. During the altercation, onlookers observed Lohan and the Hilton sisters trash-talking each other at the L.A. nightclub, Hyde. At one point, Paris and Lindsay were face-to-face, a classic debate tactic. TMZ reported that the feud started with Lohan name-dropping Hilton for publicity during Just My Luck press calls. However, it probably had something to do with Lohan allegedly hooking up with Paris' Greek shipping heir ex-boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos.

On this historic night, the classiest man alive, Brandon Davis, added fuel to the fire(crotch). While Paris was blamed for comments against Lohan's lady parts it was actually Davis doing all the smack talk. He told the paparazzi that Lohan did, in fact, have a "firecrotch" and "it shits freckles." Although she didn't say it herself, Paris was guilty for laughing at his comments and has had a history of calling Lindsay a "coked out whore" and a "loser" in the past.
Later that year, during an interview for Elle magazine, Lohan said she received prank calls from Paris and Brandon Davis, continuing their firecrotch taunts. She then stated, "obviously, [Paris is] very comfortable making videos," a stab at Paris' very public sex tape.

After the "firecrotch" fiasco, Lohan left Paris an angry voicemail. Paris was seen holding up her phone, laughing at it, and then called LiLo a "cunt." Hilton was allegedly still bitter about her ex-boyfriend Stavros and Lindsay Lohan's rumored hook-up.

Lohan admited to the paparazzi that the night before, at her friend's house, Paris hit her with a drink. She held up her arm to show off an invisible injury and explained that it was "not okay." The feud, at this point, had become incredibly serious: Paris wasted alcohol to throw it on Lindsay.

Despite reports that Lindsay was jealous of Paris and Britney's friendship, the three were seen leaving a party together. When Lindsay was getting into Paris' car, Paris made her tell the paparazzi "the truth." Lindsay, without emotion, said that she lied about the hitting incident the night before and that Paris would never do that. Maybe it's a friendship on the mend or maybe Lohan really needed a designated driver that night.

The year 2007 was an innocent time. Between the two of them, Lindsay and Paris only had 30 days of rehab and 23 days of jail. Together, they partied on the beach in Malibu, celebrating America's Independence Day and their own releases from jail and rehab. Lohan stayed sober with energy drinks and cigarettes. There weren't pictures of them posing together, but the event was an improvement.

A source revealed that they both wanted to work with Timbo and hoped he would give their (almost nonexistent) music careers a boost. Just six months after the awkward pre-Grammy catfight, Paris and Lindsay were seen partying together again at the grand opening of L.A. club, Apple Lounge. Even though we assumed the peace wouldn't last, Paris told Glamour magazine: "[Lindsay and I] are fine now. I think she's really changed. I saw her a month ago and she was really sweet and seemed really happy and we're all adults now."

We won't judge.) and sharing a passionate kiss with Paris. This marks the height of their "BFF" status, which apparently came close to crossing over into something else we wish Paris would release on tape.

On The World According to Paris, she gave her earrings to a homeless woman during a visit to a shelter. When the woman confused her with Lindsay she quipped, "If I was Lindsay I'd be stealing the earrings, not giving them away." With the title of "former friend" once again attached, Lindsay said Paris was "mean." Paris quickly apologized publicly, saying that the joke was "thoughtless and unnecessary."

Two months after the thief joke, Lohan and Hilton became friends again! How did they make up? By partying. At Hilton's beach house at Malibu, she hosted a small get together and "loved" seeing Lindsay there. Since the party, the two kicking it together around L.A. It seems all is well in their relationship again, until next month, at least.
