One of the more disturbing films of the 20th century gets a lighthearted Saturday outing treatment in Austin this weekend, as the Alamo Drafthouse Theatre presents “THE ULTIMATE DELIVERANCE CANOE TRIP.” Starting at 3 p.m., participants can meet up for some canoeing on the Guadalupe river, beer drinking, pig roasting, and the a screening of a 35mm print of Deliverance outside.

If you’re not familiar with the 1972 film, it involves four businessmen from Atlanta who come face-to-face with the horrors of nature and hillbillies when they go on a fateful canoe trip in the country. You’ll have a hard time shaking some of it from your memory, but the BBQ and beer should help it go down easier. Limited amount of canoe space, so get tickets NOW.—Finn Cohen
