Lorde celebrated Kanye West in his Chicago hometown on Tuesday night with a cover of “Love Lockdown,” and a medley of her song “Liability” with the chorus from Kanye’s “Runaway,” a cover she first played at Coachella 2017. She told her audience, “It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West.”
Lorde’s currently on her Melodrama Tour, and throughout the tour, she’s been performing various covers and tributes. She honored Prince in Minnesota, Bruce Springsteen in New Zealand, and covered Frank Ocean's "Solo" at a number of stops.
This hasn’t been her first time borrowing from Kanye’s catalog; in 2013, she performed “Hold My Liquor” in New Zealand. Yeezy also remixed her Hunger Games: Mockingjay track "Yellow Flicker Beat" in 2014.
