Trippie Redd hopped on social media Tuesday to reflect on the tragic death of PnB Rock, who was fatally shot Monday at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ’N Waffles in South Los Angeles.

Trippie began his heartfelt Instagram post by suggesting that record labels should offer security for artists. Redd mentioned that he used to tell his late friend and collaborator XXXTentacion, who was robbed and killed in 2018, that they shouldn’t ride around in luxury vehicles in the absence of security.

“I had to reschedule my whole day yesterday I was at a true loss for words,” Trippie wrote. “I keep losing my friends to gun violence. I want all my friends to start having a guard or 2; it honestly should be on the label to get u protection. That’s one thing I used to tell xxx is let’s stop riding around in the i8 just me and u. While ur paid security sleep at the house, we in the club just us.”

Trippie went on to praise PnB for taking a chance on him when he was just coming up in the rap game, recalling how the late rapper enlisted Redd to open up for him at a show in Atlanta.

“Pnb was my real life brother,” he shared. “He pulled up on me and @fijimacintosh when we weren’t even nobody yet and told us in his prime that we would blow up. He pulled up to the hood in a sprinter wit all his guys to Fiji mom house just to meet us then put us on the line up for his show in Atlanta.”

Trippie continued, “He wasn’t a selfish person either he always praised me and my friends that aren’t famous working with n***s flying to us and we always bonded over the fact that we both got to make hits with xxx during his journey here I just want everyone to be safe and think about ur life and family before u make delicious I love you man until we meet again brother @pnbrock thank you for everything.”

On Monday, PnB was shot and killed during a robbery at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles location in the Los Angeles area.

“The victim was sitting at a table eating with a female witness when he was approached by the suspect,” Los Angeles Police Capt. Kelly Muniz told reporters. “The suspect then brandished a firearm and demanded his property. … The suspect then fired multiple rounds and then appears to remove some property, to what extent we don’t know at this time.”

Rock, 30 years old, leaves behind two young daughters.
