When he was 9 years old, Andrew Oliver—a.k.a. Toronto-based songwriter and producer Andrew Oliver—met his hero The Game outside a hotel and got a pic with the MC as a memento. Now, two decades later, he’s recruited the West Coast rap icon to spit bars on his new single, “20s.”

The full-circle track is breezy slice of funk-pop with shades of Tame Impala, featuring a hushed hook by Nightshifts and some slick, party-ready bars by The Game. It’s a feel-good tune with a feel-good backstory.

“Miracles happen when you let the universe perform for two old friends,” The Game says of the track.

The single art for “20s” is the very pic Oliver and The Game took 20 years ago.

“It feels surreal. That picture has been standing on my dresser for over half of my life,” says Nightshifts. “I love to think about how mind-blown my 10-year old self and friends would be. And I’m grateful he took the time and care to do it right. We chatted about what the song was about, and what vibe we were aiming for. I had written and recorded the rest of the track from my bedroom. Now hearing it back with one of my childhood idols is an absolute dream.”
