Lil Nas X is a notoriously funny guy, especially on social media, so it’s no surprise that the rapper joked about himself after a fan shared an extremely heartwarming story about meeting him at the MTV Video Music Awards this past weekend.

Pop Crave reshared a Reddit post from a fan who left a touching message about Nas X, who she described as a “genuinely nice person” after they took some pictures together when she accidentally ran into him at the VMAs.

A Reddit post of someone sharing their experience meeting @LilNasX at the #VMAs is currently going viral on the platform:

Nas X responded to this story and sarcastically spun it back on himself, claiming that he was actually really mean and had slapped a fan in the past for singing one of his songs wrong.

this is not true. i am very mean in person. i once slapped a fan for singing the lyrics to industry baby wrong https://t.co/nPX3sIWvKy

“this is not true. i am very mean in person,” the rapper tweeted in jest. “i once slapped a fan for singing the lyrics to industry baby wrong.”

Regardless of what Nas has to say, the story that the fan shared is still heartwarming and reflects how Lil Nas X’s public perception and who he actually is line up.
