Nearly 17 years since Destiny’s Child disbanded in 2005 after releasing five studio albums, fans of the iconic R&B trio continue to speculate that a reunion is on the horizon.

Kelly Rowland addressed the rumors during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, assuring fans that Destiny’s Child would never “play with anybody” over a potential reunion.

“We love everybody so much that we wouldn’t toy with it, but I do think that… you would deserve a surprise,” Rowland shared. “I feel like everything is just so planned so we see it before it happens and we see the process right after it happens.”

She added, “It’s just a lot, like, we deserve spontaneity, we desire to be surprised and I would hope Destiny’s Child would be a pleasant surprise.”

Rowland’s comments arrive several months after fans speculated that the powerhouse trio were reforming after the group changed their Twitter and Facebook header photos. Alas, it didn’t take long before Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles, shot down the rumors.

While chatting with TMZ last August, Knowles, who’s still Destiny’s Child’s official manager, confirmed that there were no plans for the group to reunite.

“It was just a random, normal social media-type update,” he told the outlet.
