On the latest episode of DJ Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast, Bobby Shmurda made comments about snitches that provoked a response from 6ix9ine.

During the two-hour chat, Shmurda suggested the music industry is packed with snitches, at least from a business perspective.

“The industry’s full of snitches, bro,” he said, as seen in a clip below. “You have to work with snitches inside the industry. This is not the streets. So you think that any rapper never dealt with a snitch on the business terms? … Rappers is capping.”

Bobby went on to explain there’s a clear difference between rappers who came from a certain lifestyle, and “civilians” who lie on record about illicit activities. “It’s civilians in the rap game,” he continued. “Any given minute [they’re] unhappy, they’re gonna tell. … You have to know that, and be aware of that. That’s why I hate when people acting stupid. … You’re civilians, you’re not in the streets selling drugs, you’re paying taxes. Like, don’t be capping to these lil n***as.” He added, “You up in the thing with security, you ain’t doing shit illegal, n***a.”

While he didn’t single any rappers out, Shmurda’s comments did provoke a response from controversial Brooklyn rapper 6ix9ine, with whom Bobby collaborated on “Stoopid.” 6ix9ine has continually faced accusations that he’s a rat and/or snitch because he cooperated with authorities in the trial of the Nine Trey Gangster Bloods, resulting in a greatly reduced time behind bars. “Stoopid,” however, dropped before the trial, and Shmurda has since suggested he does not want to work with Tekashi ever again.

“I never seen Migos throw Bobby on a song while he was in jail,” wrote 6ix9ine in the comments of Akademiks’ Instagram post of the clip. “Talk about ‘real n***as’ but as soon as he came home they wanted to ride his wave to get hot…I didn’t owe him nothing and I sent him 40,000 in jail after ‘Stoopid.’”
