Alicia Keys is just now reacting to a 2008 interview where Janet Jackson said she would date the piano-playing pop star. It’s a long time coming for a response, but maybe that’s the way love goes.

An E! News article revealed Jackson would “date Alicia Keys if she were to have a lesbian fling,” with Janet saying she she’d “pick” the “wonderful” singer. By the looks of it, Keys is flattered by the music legend’s words.

“I always knew I was BAE,” Alicia wrote in an Instagram post. “But when @janetjackson says it 💥💥💥💥 Make sure you watch OUR Sis, THE ICON’s Doc.”

Others are cosigning the post, including Gunna fittingly writing “For P she turn 🅿️esbian!”

Talk around Jackson has been exploding following the release of her career-spanning Janet documentary on Lifetime and A&E. In the doc, fans get a glimpse of her early days and legendary choreography, plus additional insight from Jackson herself on the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show controversy, where Justin Timberlake exposed her nipple. As Jackson now reveals, she asked Timberlake to not issue a statement about the incident.

“We talked once,” Jackson said in the doc. “And he said, ‘I don’t know if I should come out and make a statement.’ … And I said, ‘Listen…I don’t want any drama for you. They’re aiming all of this at me.’ So I said, ‘If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.’”

In the doc, Tito Jackson also clarified the incident was not a publicity stunt, adding that “Janet is not like that.”

“Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion,” Janet says in the doc. “And, of course, it was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame and that’s got to stop.”
