Yasiin Bey, more commonly known by Mos Def, has cancelled his upcoming tour, reportedly because of immigration issues. The tour was set to kick off in Boston, but the promoters of the show put this message on their website announcing the cancellation:

"We regret to inform you that due to immigration/legal issues Yasiin Bey is unable to enter back into the United States and his upcoming US tour has been canceled."

Mos Def has been living in South Africa since 2009, and though some reports have stated that he was denied entry into the U.S. for the tour, it isn't exactly clear that this is the reason. The Guardian made note that Mos Def had decided to not return to the U.S. due to legal and immigration issues, which refutes the idea that he was actually denied entry.

It has been a rumor that he is an official citizen of South Africa, though it is not known if he still holds his citizenship in the U.S. We will continue to update this story with more details as they become available.

UPDATE: South African publication, Times Live, released a story with quotes from one of Bey's friends also living in South Africa. Abdi Hussein denies all reports of Bey not being allowed back into the country, and says that he pushed the tour simply because the dates contradicted with other projects in Africa. It's also worth noting that Bey attended Kim and Kanye's wedding this weekend in Italy.
