During a recent show at the Shrine in Chicago, Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) treated his audience to a very special and rare performance. In the video above, Bey busts out a previously unreleased track produced by Kanye West entitled “The Light Is Not Afraid of the Dark.”
As Bey explains on stage, “It was meant to be on True Magic but it didn’t end up there. But it’s here now.” It’s not totally clear why this song has yet to see the light of day (it’s pretty terrific), but maybe it will end up somewhere in the future.
