As we learned with last month's Late Show performance of "In Cold Blood," Pusha-T and Twin Shadow on a track with alt-J is a gift that keeps on giving. Now, the collab has a similarly enthralling video.
In a statement, "In Cold Blood (Twin Shadow Version)" video director Osean outlined his approach to bringing the REDUXER track to life. Instead of representing alt-J in the video as a human entity, the director—inspired by King Push's contributions to the track—decided instead to thrust the G.O.O.D. boss into a digital landscape. "The way Pusha is acting in the video is the same way I feel he acted in the song," Osean said. "He flows through the song as his experience in someone else's world trying to find his place. And so in the video during the alt-J part, I wanted Pusha to basically experience alt-J the experience."
Up top, catch the new video for Shadow's rework of the track that originally appeared on alt-J's 2017 album RELAXER. REDUXER, featuring additional reworks by Lomepal and Trooko, is out Sept. 28.
For some reason, Pusha dampened my week Monday with the cancelation of several previously announced DAYTONA-promoting tour dates. Stops in St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Charlotte, Grand Rapids, Silver Spring, North Myrtle Beach, San Antonio, and Dallas will now not be happening. At least one venue attributed the move to "scheduling conflicts," though Pusha's team hasn't released an official statement.
While we wonder why the hell such a tragedy could befall us, let's revisit Pusha and 070 Shake's Roots-supported performance of DAYTONA standout "Santeria."
