The final Hamildrop is upon us.
For the last entry in the Hamilton-celebrating series, writer/creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has secured arguably the most coveted featured artist in recorded history, President Barack Obama. The track sees Obama join the proceedings with a reliably impassioned reading of some George Washington words.
Obama is joined on this "44 remix" of "One Last Time" by Christopher Jackson, BeBe Winans, and Alex Lacamoire. Stream the final Hamildrop up top via YouTube and/or below via Apple Music.
After taking a look back at previous Hamildrops in a series of tweets Thursday night, the Mary Poppins Returns star successfully inspired me with a quick note on the importance of perspective. "Look at where we are," he said, sharing footage from his 2009 White House visit. "Look at where we started."
Given the diversity of the Broadway classic, as well as its distinctly Obama era vibes, Miranda recently toldVulture that he underestimated the amount of racism still alive in this country when writing the story.
"I never saw [the growth of Latinos in this country] as a threat to anyone else," he said. "And obviously there are people in this country for whom that is seen as a threat, [and who feel] that we are somehow less American than anyone else who comes here to make a living and make a life for themselves. I find that heartbreaking, but that's a reality."
In the same interview, Miranda also teased that he has multiple potential ideas nearing the starting line. "I'm waiting to see which one raises its hand for me to write," he said.
