Actually, Lil Uzi Vert will not be hitting the road with Playboi Carti. Thursday, just one day after a joint Uzi x Carti tour was announced, Uzi informed his fans that he would be skipping the run of shows to "focus." Hopefully, this is Uzi's vague way of confirming that he's officially hitting the studio for his previously announced rock album.
Though the status of the 16*29 Tour is now uncertain, I am formally proposing Marilyn Manson as Uzi's replacement.
Uzi's reps did not immediately respond to Complex's request for additional comment. At the time of this amazing fucking writing, Carti had not publicly commented on Uzi's decision to eschew touring in favor of focusing.
Following the No. 1 success of Luv Is Rage 2 and new national anthem "XO Tour Llif3," Uzi is apparently planning to expand his punk-complementary aesthetic into a full-blown rock album with Manson, Tyler Bates, and more. Speaking with Zane Lowe in August after trying to capture fire (see below), Uzi suggested the project may end up being heavily influenced by Paramore's Hayley Williams.
"She's, like, the best," Uzi said. "It's hard to top that. She's, like, the best, just of my generation. There's nobody, bro." Uzi, seemingly, is also planning a collaborative project with would-be touring partner Carti.
Carti is currently on ASAP Mob's Too Cozy Tour with ASAP Rocky, ASAP Twelvyy, ASAP Nast, ASAP Ant, and Key!
