Cardi B's 2019 tour plans will take her to the Wells Fargo Arena in Iowa in May, marking her Des Moines debut. Given Iowa's status as a crucial state for matters of presidential competitiveness, it's only right that a regional group of Democrats has extended an invitation to Cardi to speak with them while she's in the area.

According to Polk County Democrats, "it only makes sense" to have Cardi speak at a "reception of her choice" in May. The group has previously hosted Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Grace Meng, and more.

As the center of the IA Caucuses, we have been honored to host @TeamPelosi, @CecileRichards, @KamalaHarris, @SenGillibrand, @PramilaJayapal, @Grace4NY, and many powerful women leaders.

It only makes sense to invite @iamcardib to a reception of her choice while she’s here in May.

As for the show itself, an insider baseball-y piece from the Des Moines Register points out just how rare a show like this is. "We probably won't get another opportunity like this in the next calendar year," Wells Fargo Arena general manager Chris Connolly said. The show, unlike the usual tour stop, isn't promoted by typical partners for such events like LiveNation or AEG. Instead, regional brand Mammoth Live partnered with the venue.

The Iowa invitation, which Polk County chair Sean Bagniewski tells CNN has not yet been met with a response from Cardi's team, follows Stephen Colbert's makeshift Twitter petition urging Democrats to enlist Cardi for the party's State of the Union response. That honor ultimately went to Stacey Abrams.

Next for Cardi is a possible Album of the Year victory at next month's 61st Grammy Awards ordeal. She's also on the bill for multiple top-tier 2019 festivals, including Bonnaroo, as well as confirmed to have her own residency at the Palms in Las Vegas. The Palms previously hosted blink-182 for their California-promoting Vegas run in 2018.
